Little Lights Celebrates 30 Years with Jubilee Center Expansion
On October 25th, Little Lights hosted the 2025 Benefit to celebrate three decades of impact in Washington, DC. The event brought together 230 guests, including students, alumni, volunteers, and supporters. Five current and former students shared how long-term relationships, academic support, and faith-centered mentoring shaped their growth and inspired the next generation, highlighting both the lasting impact of Little Lights’ programs and excitement for the Jubilee Center, which is nearing completion.
The Jubilee Center marks the largest expansion in Little Lights’ 30-year history. Located in Ward 7, an area where 38% of children live in poverty, and access to high-quality academic and enrichment programs is limited, the center will serve as a permanent hub for academic support, College & Career programming, mentoring, family engagement, and ministry. It is being designed to meet the needs of students and families from day one, ensuring accessibility, relational support, and programmatic impact.
Outreach for the new center is underway, connecting with local elementary schools, community leaders, and families to introduce programs and recruit participants. A church tenant is preparing to host services, creating opportunities for spiritual engagement alongside educational and social support. Early inquiries from students and families reflect growing excitement for this new hub of learning, mentoring, and ministry.
While the Jubilee Center is taking shape, Little Lights’ existing sites remain fully active, offering daily tutoring, enrichment, mentoring, and leadership development. Spiritual development activities, including small-group discussions and one-to-one mentoring programs, continue to provide students with stability and growth. College & Career students receive guidance on postsecondary preparation, financial aid navigation, and workforce readiness, demonstrating strong program momentum during expansion.
Through these efforts, Little Lights continues to strengthen both its current programs and its future home, building relationships, capacity, and opportunities that will support students, families, and the broader community for years to come.
