The Art of Justice: Building Beautiful Community

2025-26: The community artspace of Washington City Church of the Brethren (WCCOB) launched in 2022 to build justice, wholeness, and community at the intersection of the arts, advocacy, and spirituality on Capitol Hill. This project is focused on the continued development, expansion, and sustainability of this arts ministry at WCCOB. The approach of this expansion and development includes strategic planning and additional art programming. First, the grant would finance the strategic planning of the arts ministry into a sustainable ministry for years to come. This planning would lead to the hiring of curatorial services for planning art shows in the space; work on branding and communications that would refine and develop the identity of the WCCOB arts ministry; and hiring of a grants coordinator. Second, the grant would support programming in the art space for the next year, including two art shows. In collaboration with these shows, WCCOB would host mini spiritual retreats led by a local movement chaplain. By directly supporting programming, there will be greater capacity for future thinking and space for proactive development.

Congregations and Communities 2025-26c

Congregations and Communities grants provide support for urban pastors, churches, faith-based community organizations, and theological institutions to share resources, ideas, and practices for life-giving ministry in cities across North America. Typically, we invite those who have not previously had access to resources or grant funding.
